Eudel Cepero is a research analyst with the FIU Applied Research Center who focuses on Cuba and its environment. From 2005 to 2006 he served as an environmental consulting associate for “Havana and its Landscapes,” a project of the FIU School of Architecture that aims to establish ecological and architectural guidelines that ensure a sustainable future of the city of Havana. Cepero is an expert on environmental planning, watershed management, environmental assessments, soil conservation practices, cartographic and topographic map management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and sustainable agriculture. He is the founder of the first independent institution dedicated to monitoring the Cuban environmental situation, Agencia Ambiental Entorno Cubano (Cuban Environmental Agency). His latest publications are Effects of the Coco and Romano Causeways on Coastal Vegetation in northern Cuba: A critical view from Space (co-authored with Angelique Lawrence, Leonard J.
