Uva de Aragón has served as associate director of the Cuban Research Institute since 1995 and previously as associate editor of Cuban Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from the University of Miami. A prolific writer, she has published in Spanish several books of literary criticism as well as poetry, short stories, essays, and a novel, Memoria del silencio.
